YWCA Reopens with Assistance from Lifeline

A donation of eight thousand dollars has been made to the Young Women’s Christian Association by the Lifeline Foundation.  For over sixty-five years, Y.W.C.A. has been instrumental in assisting with the vocational and academic development of young girls, later expanding its services to provide daycare and early childhood education.  When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in 2020, the Y took a severe financial hit, prompting its closure.  Recognizing the financial hardship that has since plagued the organization, Lifeline has stepped up with a contribution that will go a long way in the Y.W.C.A. reopening.

“I have always been very impressed with the work that is done here.  I have participated on numerous occasions with the Y and so for us at Lifeline, it is indeed a pleasure to be here this morning.  It gives us great sense of gratitude really, that we are able to help the Y to reopen its doors for twenty-two children who will be fully paid for their year’s scholarship and we also contributed three industrial sewing machines for the sewing program to restart and for us to get our young ladies back to the Y to start doing their crafts.  So I just really want to take a moment to also hand over to Jackie [Roe] because she took the lead and I would really want her to say something.”

“It’s a complete pleasure for us.  When we were able to see the need of what the YWCA’s needs were and how you have been compromised as a result of the pandemic, and I think for me, and the rest of the Lifeline board, it was a matter of saying that it wasn’t just the children that were being compromised, it was entire families that were not able to get on with their daily lives because the preschool wasn’t functioning the way it should, so the decision was easy and it’s pleasure, it’s just a complete pleasure that we can contribute.”
