$100 for Public Officer Bonus; Zero For Ministers and CEOs

The Briceño Administration is also trying to spread the cheer of Christmas to public officers. Minister Orlando Habet confirmed that public officers will be getting a one hundred dollars Christmas bonus. And, while he admits it is not nearly enough to match what has been lost as a result of the ten percent pay, he further noted that Minister and C.E.O. are not expecting any bonuses this year.

“I think the government is trying to do as best possible. The little extra money they could find to try and assist the needy during a time like now, like Christmas when it is a time for sharing, I think it is good. The public officers will get their one hundred dollars to buy their ham or picnic or turkey or whatever it is. It is not enough. It does not replace the ten percent. We understand that.  But, I think it is a positive gesture on behalf of the government to do that and I think people really appreciate it.”

“Sir but you will get a bonus correct, and your bonus will be bigger, correct?

“No, we are not getting any bonus. We are not getting any bonus. We have been discounted fifty percent of our allowances and fifteen percent of our salary. And it remains the same.”

“So, no bonus for Ministers?”

“No sir.”
