Seine Bight Villager Wins $30K Just in Time for the Christmas

A visit to Belize City this morning by a Seine Bight resident has ended with big cash. Thelma Palacio arrived with her granddaughter, who has been her lucky charm. As they alighted the bus at the terminal, Palacio headed to a nearby shop to purchase three scratch-and-win tickets. One of those three-dollar tickets had a whopping thirty-thousand-dollar cash prize. In complete disbelief, she asked a couple of people if she indeed had won. A taxi operator quickly took her to the Scratch and Win Office to confirm her winnings. An excited Palacio told News Five today that “Crismus di coh!”

“Coming from the bus station, I went to the drug store to drug store to buy some pills. I said no, I am going across to the Chinese place to buy some boledo. But when I got there, I changed my mind and bought scratch instead. The first one nothing, the second one nothing; the third one, I see the three numbers at the top. Comparing the numbers at the bottom, I said that’s twenty-eight right there so I supposed to win something. When I looked at the zeros, it is more than two zeros so I know that this is something big. I was so excited, there was a female passing and I said, “Miss could you look at this ticket with me? Did I win anything?” She said Miss You win thirty thousand [dollars].” Oh I could have seen Christmas. I was so happy, I know Christmas is here. And all my grandchildren, I’ll make their Christmas come true.”
