Belizean Men Sought in Mexico Following Murder in Orange Walk District
Police are looking for two brothers who allegedly murdered their uncle in cold blood. The incident occurred Sunday night in the village of San Antonio in the Orange Walk District. It is believed that after the brothers bludgeoned their uncle to death in an open field they fled across the border into Mexico. A.S.P. Fitzroy Yearwood spoke about the killing this morning.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department
“Police went to an area in San Antonio Village in Orange Walk District where they began their investigation. Let me go forward to tell you that Eugene Teyul was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. He was seen with severe injuries over his face, bleeding from his head. We received a report that he was socializing by the football field in San Antonio Village where he was attacked by two of his nephews in a red Mazda pickup. One of his nephews exited the pickup and kicked him somewhere in the face area, thereafter began beating him with a spanner. The other nephew was in the passenger seat. And, when he was assisted by members of the village, these nephews took a run for the border as you might say. While it is believed that they entered Mexican territory, we have since contacted our Mexican counterparts in trying to locate these two assailants. Our investigation is a murder investigation, and we are hoping that persons in the community can assist the police in finding the Teyul brothers and bring them to justice.”

“Is there any sort of indication to police, as to what drove them to such extreme?”
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood
“I will use a phrase from a relative of mine, we have a lot of angry people out there . Why they are angry we don’t know. But, for you to go to an extent to beat your own relative in that fashion, it had to be that you had some hate or rage inside of you.”
