Vet Association Elects New Officers

The Veterinary Association of Belize held its annual general meeting on Saturday at the Cahal Pech Resort in San Ignacio. The membership elected new officers to their executive committee. They are President: Doctor Victor Gongora, Vice President: Doctor Ludwig Palacio, Secretary: Doctor Fabian Tun, Treasurer: Doctor Isabelle Paquet Durand, ordinary member Doctor Mia Canton and Doctor Philip DeShield. In news delivered to the members, it was shared that Belize has been selected as the host for a Caribbean conference in 2023. The members also commended the minister of agriculture, Jose Mai, for supporting animal health and production in Belize.  The minister recently appointed a new Veterinary Surgeons Board to serve a three-year term and also signed into law the annual registration for veterinarians and animal health assistants for continuing professional development.
