Will More Officers Get Involved in Drug Trafficking?

ACP Grinage was also asked about the selection process for officers to respond to reports of suspected drug plane landings. With the recent incidents involving police officers, the question lingers: who can be trusted?

ACP Alford Grinage, Operations Commander, Belize Police Department

“Police selection will always be the same. Like what Commissioner had always said interviews, police officers are not angels. We are not separately from the public. We have been persons from the public. It is just that we have to ensure that we continue to champion to them about the integrity, honesty and that we could trust them. Because, the public depends on us at all times to ensure that integrity is at a high standard. But, to tell you the truth, I am sure this will not be the last time that law enforcement, or persons of national security are involved in these types of activities. I believe, the cartels do need us, do need persons from our end to carry out this mission. So, it won’t be the first or the last.”
