Who’s at the Wheel of the Ministry of Health & Wellness?
With the passage of the Public Health Reform legislation the position of Director of Health Services within the Ministry of Health and Wellness, previously held by Doctor Marvin Manzanero was abolished. But there is still a deputy DHS in the form of Doctor Francis Morey. The legislation also allowed for the creation of two other posts at the director level for which candidates have not been selected as yet. So without a C.E.O. and two key positions vacant, who is running the ship? That’s what News Five asked Health Minister Michel Chebat.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health & Wellness
“Two new positions were created. I believe that there are advertisements for the posts and those advertisements should last until the fifteen of December; thereafter the Ministry of Public Service will be reviewing the candidates and they will be making a decision.”

“So there is a deputy DHS if the DHS position is not there?”
Michel Chebat
“Doctor Morey is holding the top position at this time. And so for all intents and purposes he is the acting.”
Duane Moody
“Some would say that that means the ministry is operating without some key positions being held.”
Michel Chebat
“Until a formal C.E.O. is announced, the Cabinet Secretary is acting as the C.E.O. for the ministry and in terms of the medical side; we have Doctor Morey who is performing the duties so we are covered.”
