Former Lands C.E.O. to Assume Post as Health C.E.O.
And by this evening, Prime Minister John Briceño told News Five’s Marion Ali that Doctor Lesbia Guerra is being considered to replace Doctor Deysi Mendez as the Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Health and Wellness. If the name sounds familiar, that is because Doctor Guerra is the former C.E.O. in the Ministry of Natural Resources, whose one-year contract was not renewed in early November. Here’s how PM Briceño confirmed that Doctor Guerra is marked for the post.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“We have been discussing that and Minister Chebat has met with Doctor Lesbia Guerra who has expressed interest in working in that ministry. Doctor Guerra has extensive experience; she worked for years in the Ministry of Health and has the managerial skills, ability and experience to be able to run that ministry. So from the looks of it, it seems that she will be taking over very shortly and I am very excited to welcoming her to the team of C.E.O.s. At Lands, she was the one that asked for a one-year contract. In this instance, I am hoping that it will be more than one year because we need continuity in that ministry. The Ministry of Health continues to be one of the most important ministries right now – not only because of try to keep the help of our people, but because of the pandemic that we continue to face in Belize.”
