First Order of Business is to Complete a CBA

Lydia Alpuche-Blake

The K.H.M.H. Workers Union is also in the process of formulating a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the management of the hospital authority to negotiate salaries and working conditions for employees who are members of the union.  A CBA is important in the circumstance given the challenges that workers are presently facing due to the pandemic.

Lydia Alpuche-Blake, Outgoing President, K.H.M.H. Workers Union

“Since this year we got our monies in order at the banks and we registered as being members of the N.T.U.C.B., so now we are financial members of the N.T.U.C.B. and they assisted us this past September in formulating and starting to put together a CBA which will be presented to the board as soon as we can so we could sit down and find solutions to everything.  In the conditions where we still have some agreements that have not been met due to financial reasons they say, because they have to invest in COVID and other things and like the uniforms, we had an agreement that every month certain sections of the employees would be receiving uniforms.  Some have not received uniforms for the past five years.  The porter right now was showing me his boots… I gwein go buy one for ahn because they need it and it was part of an agreement that they did with us and we would want them to continue finishing those agreements so that the staff could have motivation to continue doing what we are doing here.”
