Minister of Home Affairs Lacks Vision and Ideas, Says Peyrefitte

Michael Peyrefitte

Peyrefitte, the former Minister of Police under the Barrow Administration, went on to challenge Minister Musa about the current state of affairs in the Police Department, accusing him and his C.E.O. of lacking the ideas and vision to steer the department forward.

Michael Peyrefitte, Chairman, U.D.P.

“This is what Kareem Musa said two years ago. We now have criminals wearing uniforms, so the state is not protecting us. They are not protecting the citizens. We have no reason to feel safe in this country and it is from top to bottom. The government, everybody is just a lawless state that we are living in. That is what he said, two years ago. That is something he should be saying today. When he appointed C.E.O. Arthurs, and I am going straight after them because they are the leadership, they had a lot to say, their mouths was the loudest. When the appointed Kevin Arthurs he had this to say, somebody very well versed not only in the law, but somebody with excellent ideas, excellent vision, and strategies, no doubt confident will be able to deliver in his Job as the CEO of the Ministry. Where are the ideas? Where is the vision? Where are the strategies to stem the rise in crime? Where is it? It is as if they don’t care. They are busy positing images on Miami Beach with basketball players, instead of focusing on what you need to do.”
