Belize Among Oversight Countries to Venezuelan Elections: One Participant Unable to Complete Trip Due to Medical Issues

Nancy Marin

Regional and municipal elections will take place in Venezuela on November twenty-first and Belize will have a three-member delegation from the Election and Boundaries Commission in attendance as part of the international oversight body.  Meetings for the international group will run from Wednesday to next Monday. Another Belizean who was invited to observe the elections is Leader of the Belize People’s Front, Nancy Marin, but she will not be able to be there. That’s because Marin is recovering from a bad reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine. Marin told News Five that she had just taken her second dose of the vaccine and was traveling to Venezuela when she collapsed. The reaction, according to the medical advice she has been given, will only be temporary and should subside in a matter of days. Marin told News Five, “I took the vaccine because it’s the right thing to do…and I don’t regret it. …I should not have traveled the same day. I take full responsibility.”She made the comment to us after she says anti-vaxers are using her reaction to the vaccine as another reason for people to not get vaccinated.
