Andrea Polanco Wins Awards in Crime Reporting

Former News Five reporter Andrea Polanco is the big winner in the 2021 Media Awards for Excellence in Crime Reporting.  The competition was organized by the Belize Crime Observatory under an initiative funded by InfoSegura.  Andrea snagged three awards for Best Feature Story, Best News Series and Best Single News Story. Winning B.C.O. Choice Award: Rising Star in the Best Single News Story category is Seven News reporter Courtney Menzies.  An additional award for Best Online Coverage also went to Aaron Humes of Breaking Belize News.  The awards competition succeeded a workshop in March 2020 on crime data reporting.  Tonight, we look back at one of Andrea’s winning story entries as she focuses on the issue of domestic violence.  Here’s that report.
