Human Trafficking Symposium Held Today

People who engage in the effort to discourage human trafficking today gathered to further their discussion on the topic.  The assembly included personnel from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Council, members of the Belize Police Department, the Ministry of Human Development, the Human Trafficking Institute, the Immigration Department, the Ministry of Labour and Local Government, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The symposium looked at ways to strengthen the collaborative structure and the various branches that work together in the fight against trafficking. The forum also provided the opportunity for the participants to better understand the role they play in the collective approach as well as how to better network among themselves.  Belize is on the Tier Two Watch List according to the U.S. State Department, after having been upgraded from Tier Three in 2019.
