UK Launches Breakthrough Agenda at COP26

In other news from COP26, the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is launching an international plan to deliver clean and affordable technology across the globe by 2030. So far at least forty world leaders have signed up to the new Breakthrough Agenda, including the United States, India, European Union, China, and many developing economies. According to the British High Commission, the plan is modelled on the UK’s landmark Net Zero Strategy. The aim is to make clean technologies the most affordable, accessible and attractive choice in each of the most polluting sectors of the world. It particularly supports the developing world to access the innovation and tools needed to transition to net zero. The plan is expected to see governments and businesses work closely through a range of leading initiatives to scale up green industries and could create twenty million new jobs globally. This comes as the PM hosts world leaders on the second day of the COP26 World Leaders Summit at a session on clean innovation and technology.
