Stake Bank Files Go Missing from DOE

The law office of Glenn D. Godfrey and Company has issued letters to former UDP Minister Tracy Panton and popular PUP talk show host Vaughn Gill for utterances in the media last week that purport to defame their client, developer Michael Feinstein.  Feinstein is a principal in the development of Port Coral at Stake Bank.  As we have reported, there is a claim before the Supreme Court that involves Port Coral and the Government of Belize, with Port of Magical Belize signed on as an interested party.  On October eleventh, in requesting specific documents from the Department of the Environment regarding the Stake Bank cruise docking facility, the law office of Morales and Peyrefitte which represents the Port of Magical Belize invoked the Freedom of Information Act.  On October twenty-third, Chief Executive Officer Kenrick Williams, of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, responded to attorney David Morales informing him that the files that were requested seem to have been misplaced and cannot be found.  According to CEO Williams, the ministry was also informed that copies of some of the documents in the files can be found in the DOE’s library.  What is interesting, however, is that the Ministry of Sustainable Development condemns the breakdown in transparency and accountability where files are misplaced or lost regarding  Stake Bank.
