NGO Senator Says We All Should Rejoice Mutually

NGO Senator Osmany Salas holds the firm position that it should not be credited to any one party and that it shows political maturity that such an initiative can commence under one administration and be concluded under another.

“This is not about the PUP, it is not about the UDP.  It is about the people of Belize.  I could not agree more.  So another way that this could have been said was, this dah noh red bonds, nor is it BLU blue bonds.  These are blue bonds, b-l-u-e bonds and look, as an independent senator, and I am sure that my colleagues at this level here will not disagree with me, we would love to see more initiatives that if they start with one administration they advance in the next one; continuity.  When we get there we will be a mature nation and who cares who started, when it started, as long as it got done and it got done well.  Now my information tells me that negotiations started in June of last year and they wrapped up and now we are at this point now.  I would like to think that we are starting to get to a point where when there is a change in government and a new party is in power, you recognize and you continue and you do all the work that it takes and my information tells me that the negotiations were highly complex and that during the latter nine months or so, increased exponentially, right.  So it took a lot of work.  So I am saying all of that to say that there is nothing wrong for a good initiative to start under a previous and we continue.  We want to see more of that.”
