Unions Want to Hear from PM on Salary Cuts

The ten percent pay cut also continues to be a contentious issue. Could there be another strike? PSU President Flowers says although the six month review is due, so far they have not heard anything from the Prime Minister. The unions want their full salary restored and are waiting to see if the PM does in fact communicate with them by the end of the week.

Dean Flowers, President, PSU

“The month of November ends on Friday, and to date neither the Public Service Union nor the joint union have received any correspondence from the Office of the Prime Minister as it relates to our six months review of government finances, to deal with the projections and our ten percent cut. And, I want to say to public officers that we are on the ball. The Joint Unions are having discussions. And, we await, between now and Friday, to see if we will hear from the government, to do a comprehensive review on what has occurred since November and now, as it relates to government finances, so that they can get back their ten percent. Or else, we may very well have to start talking about oiling our machinery once again.”
