FECTAB President Says Ask DOE for ECP Docs
Evidently, FECTAB has a vested interest in the development of Port Coral, its causeways and North Drowned Caye. With a twenty-five year signed agreement FECTAB, projects the agreement will bring in millions of dollars in income for tour operators. President David Almendarez says he has dug into the public records, in an attempt to determine if the Department of Environment granted Stake Bank an ECP under the former administration. In a power point presentation, Almendarez took us back to the public consultations of June nineteenth 2013 based on a News Five report, asserting that the issue of the causeway was raised during those consultations. Almendarez also referenced a February tenth, 2014 Sitting of the Senate where Former Government Lead Senator, Godwin Hulse said, quote, “All the environmental studies have been done that show that the causeways are fine.” But when reporters asked Almendarez if FECTAB has seen a copy of the ECP, and if it is in the best interest of his membership that the developers present this documentation, here is how he responded.

“Everybody said they did not know, that is what they wanted to know, when they had an EIA presentation. I just showed you in black and white, the date, who attended. If you read the Channel Five things, it even showed you there were a few objections. Who produces an ECP document? Who is in charge of the Department of Environment? Who is in charge of the Department of Environment? So, why don’t you question he? Whenever you find it from he you come show me. Who is in charge of the Department of Environment? Please forward that question to Mr. Alegria. Who is in charge of the Department of Environment? So, who is in charge to produce that document, David Almendarez of Mr. Alegria? How you wah ask me that? Guh ask Mr. Alegria that boss man. I will not answer a question that is irrelevant to me. Have you seen Harvest Caye EIA, have you seen it? Could you provide it? Next time I come you provide it to me because I haven’t seen it either. I haven’t seen the one they approved for Leonardo Di caprio. Have you seen Leonardo Di Caprio one? Who the build a tourist village? FECTAB the build a tourist village? We are privileged to have a twenty-five years contract with those people. We are in support of the cause way. We have always been.
