Dane Gillett to Be Arraigned for Murder of Dwayne Gabourel
Twenty-four-year-old Dane Gillett is set to appear in the Magistrate’s Court on Monday where he is expected to be arraigned for the murder of fifteen-year-old Dwayne Gabourel. The suspected killer was charged and arraigned for a separate offense of aggravated assault on October first. Moments later, the Majestic Alley resident tested positive for COVID-19, delaying his arraignment for the count of murder. Gillett’s mother has since come forward to defend her son’s innocence. In a post on social media, she asserted that her son was attending a funeral at the time of the shooting. Gabourel was gunned down inside a grocery store on New Road on the evening of September twenty-fifth as he was purchasing a loaf of bread for his family to have supper. The senseless murder of the teenage minor has sparked outrage as it is believed that he was killed innocently in an ongoing row between rival gangs on that side of Belize City.
