Finally, Berger Field to be Transformed as a Football Stadium

But with new equipment, there is a need for facilities and safe spaces for footballers of all ages to train and play.  And tonight, News Five has confirmed that the Berger Field will be transformed into a football stadium. Years ago, there were plans to retrofit and uplift this open space located on Vernon Street, but it never happened. Today, we can tell you that the F.F.B., with support from various ministries under the Briceño Administration, will see the field adopted and a stadium built. F.F.B. Executive Member Marlon Kuylen let the cat out of the bag during a zoom interview with News Five this afternoon.

“We had an onsite visit about two months ago to one of the main areas that really need the help and can impact – I think there’s like probably about eight schools in a one mile radius of that vicinity. We had a meeting last week Friday with one of the ministries involved and this Friday we should conclude and then we should make it public one of the locations that we will be renovating and it will be synthetic so you could use it all day, every day and it will be very nice. So that is one of the areas that we will be proudly making public soon. For FIFA to spend money on a property, they would want us to get a twenty to twenty-five-year lease because you don’t want to go and spend a million dollars on a property and next thing you know you have ownership issues. And so we looked at the Raccoon Street Football pitch but that property – it would take a long time for us to get the rights to that so we had to abandon those plans.”

“Tentatively, where are we thinking?”

Marlon Kuylen

“We are thinking Berger Field. Whatever project we take on, it will be with fence, synthetic, seating area, bathroom facilities, an office and lighting so that we could get full use of the area.”
