UDP Leader on Expense of COVID for Loved Ones
Leader of the Opposition Patrick Faber spoke about his recent personal experience and having to spend those tens of thousands at a private hospital when his mother fell ill with COVID.
Patrick Faber, Leader of the Opposition.
“Anti Viral and Monoclonal treatment is very important. Some people will say Faber, you shouldn’t get into the details. But I am telling you, the monoclonal treatment my mother received in that private hospital was very, very costly. And, not telling anybody that I am able to stomach it without a bump. In fact, I had to go to a bank and say I need to save my mother’s life. To me, it would have come at any cost that is my mother. But, there are people out there who do not have that kind of relationship with the bank, who do not have any means at all to purchase the medication. Because I am told from within the KHMH, if you want that monoclonal treatment or some of the antiviral treatment, they will allow you to purchase it and bring it into the hospital. That should not be the case without patients. Those patients should be getting the very best care. How much is a life worth?”
