50 Percent of Inmates Vaccinated

Notwithstanding the recent increase in COVID-19 cases at the prison, only about half of the inmates have been vaccinated so far. The rates are higher for staff members who are required to either be vaccinated or present a negative COVID test. This requirement is now in place for visitors as well.

“We already sent out our memo to our entire staff informing them that they would have needed to, those persons who never wanted to vaccinate for whatever reason, would have had to present a PCR or Rapid test that would have been taken two to three days prior to show that they are negative. We also sent out a notice to the inmate telling them to tell their people that they will need to present similar, either vaccination card or some proof of negative for the virus. And we are going to enforce that, because at the end of the day it seems to be the norm. When it comes to inmates we have a fifty five percent vaccinated so far. When it comes to the officers, the guys in the black uniform, seventy-nine percent of them have been vaccinated so far. Civilian staff has ninety percent of them. So overall we have sixty percent of the overall prison population having been vaccinated.”
