Celebrating National Taiwan Day 2021

On Monday the Belize City Council welcomed Taiwanese Ambassador to Belize David Kuan Chou Chien and other officials from the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the Belize City Hall. “October tenth would be the one hundred and tenth national day of the Republic of China Taiwan. I would like to take this opportunity to celebrate the National Day of Taiwan, to share our joy with the people of Belize City and extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the people of Belize for your unwavering staunch support and friendship to my country Taiwan in the international forums.”

“Just as the Belize City Council continuously nurtures local partnership, we likewise work to foster international relationships as well as diaspora and sister city relations. Today, we are delighted to further build on our diplomatic ties with our partners from Taiwan by sharing your culture and heritage with the residents of our city.”

Following the remarks Mayor Wagner received a donation for this year’s Youth Patriotic Competition and the Taiwanese embassy also handed over four hundred gift packages containing Taiwanese treats. These will be distributed to residents across the city by councilors.
