Stabbing Murder in Lord’s Bank; Police Need Help to Identify Victim

The first murder for the weekend occurred on Friday night in the village of Lord’s Bank in Belize District. A man was stabbed multiple times; his cries for help were heard by residents who came out to find his on the street, gasping for air. Police were called in and arrived on the scene, but by then, he had already died. Tonight, the victim’s identity remains unknown and the police need assistance identifying him. News Five spoke with ASP Fitzroy Yearwood and one of the residents who came out to help.

“We hear somebody and I tell he mek we check and when we come outside we see the man on the ground. And we put on the yard light and we just come check see if he alright and that time we see ih mi di breathe and thing. We pour some water pon ahn and talk to ahn and dah soh ih mi di gasp for air.  I tell he fi make we call the police. We run inside to get mask before the police dehn reach. Dehn come di ask we question. The man deh down dehn, mussi still living and afterwards when everybody di go dah when dehn start bag up the body. I say unu check di body then? And she tell me no, dehn di wait fi the people dehn weh bag di body come cause dehn neva come at the same time when the first truck come. From there, dehn start ask questions and things.”

“So you guys heard screams and that’s what made you guys come out? “

“Yeah. Yo know when somebody deh ina pain and dehn make that lee moaning sound. We hear he and we just look out and we see ahn deh.”

“Do you know him from the area? Is he from this area?”

“No, no. First time we di see ahn. First time and we live back yah very long and dah the first time we see this man.”

“This person has since been transported to the K.H.M.H. and we are asking the general public’s assistance in trying to identify this person. The investigators made an attempt by sending out a photo, not approved by me, but we will get a vivid description and see how we can facilitate the public better.”

“He’s not from that area?”

“Apparently not from that area. We believe that he is somewhere in Belize City. I will make some checks with some people that I know and see if he is related to them. Outside of that, I hope that the general public can help us.”
