Hartin Back to Court: Appears on CBS “48 Hours”
On Tuesday, Jasmine Hartin’s case heads back to court in San Pedro. The Canadian woman is facing charges of manslaughter by negligence in the death of Police Superintendent Henry Jemmott in late May. She is also facing a charge of common assault against an employee of Grand Colony where she resided before the death. Tuesday’s proceedings are the disclosure phase. The incident has captured the imagination of international media and this past weekend the American crime show “48 Hours” did a segment on the case. The program details her initial explanation which was that some men going by in a boat fired the shot that killed him. But during her interview, Hartin gives another version of events that took place on the dark pier, to a seemingly skeptical interviewer.

Even though Hartin openly admits to firing the fatal shot, the CBS episode ends with a note saying that, “Hartin has not decided how she will plead to the negligent manslaughter charge.”
