Dian Maheia, CEO, Ministry of Education

“Starting today, we arent delaying any longer.  Our delay was for the rollout of the Pfizer vaccine.  The fact that we have over twenty-four thousand, twelve to seventeen-year-olds who have been vaccinated is an indicator that we were right to wait and now, moving forward will be entirely, its going to really be a community decision.  This is not a case where the ministry will mandate at this point to say everyone must open and everyone must return tomorrow.  This is a case now where we are saying, we all have a part to play in this.  We want to make sure that as the Ministry of Education that we are doing our part, but we also need to make sure that everyone else does their part.  So our managing authorities and our proprietors, our school administrators, our teachers, our parents.  I think never before has it been so clear that school and education really need for everyone to work together in order to make it work properly.”
