Closing the Digital Divide for Older Persons

It is International Day of Older Persons. This year’s global celebration is being observed under the theme “Digital Equity For All Ages.” The National Council on Aging says the closing the digital divide has always been a concern, but COVID-19 has highlighted the need for greater action. In response, the Council has initiated online skills training to help manage day-to-day tasks and keep older persons socially engaged. The council encourages all Belizeans to celebrate the older person within your home, offices, and community for their invaluable contributions to their families and the overall development of our country. Mentoring, volunteering, acting as caregivers, and providing technical experience in paid work and leading successful businesses are just some of the ways older people continue to build Belize.
