“The official ceremonies was on the sixteenth for their independence, but there were also some very important dates for the Mexican Government and the Mexican people. For example, yesterday on the twenty-seventh, they celebrated that it took them eleven years of civil strike and war to gain their independence. And so yesterday was the mark of that two hundredth anniversary as well. On the thirtieth, the delegation will move to Morelos where they will celebrate the milestone, the birth of José María Morelos who was an integral part, was a revolutionary fighter for the cause of independence for the Mexican people. And so the delegation will be hosted at that event again by the Mexican government. And then they return on Friday to Mexico City to hold the bilateral with the President of Mexico and his functionaries. The relationship with Mexico has been strengthened over the last few months. The Prime Minister, and this is unprecedented, has been in Mexico twice in almost the same month and three times in the same year. It shows the importance of the Mexican market, it shows that we want to expand relations. We definitely want to make sure that when it comes to commerce and trade – that that is improved. Belize right now is a net importer from Mexico and we want to close that gap as much as possible.”
