Gaming house robbed

There has been another robbery in Belize City, the third this week. Around eight thirty Wednesday night three Creole men entered the Jackpot Gaming House on Baymen Avenue, held a gun to a sixteen year old employee’s head and demanded money. She handed over sixty dollars and the men fled on bicycles. Police have detained several men in connection with Wednesday’s daytime hold-up at Zhang Yong Li’s shop on Euphrates Avenue. He was shot in the abdomen. Police say they have not been able to speak to the victim although they are told he is in a stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial. They do know he was shot with a point twenty-five caliber pistol and recovered an expended shell and three pellets at the scene. No progress has been made in the investigation into the robbery Monday night at Robert’s Store on Amara Avenue. The shopkeeper and his wife were robbed of several hundred dollars. Three Creole men were also involved in this case. At present there is no evidence to suggest that the incidents are connected or the work of one gang.

In other crime news, a dispute between two young men this morning has left one man injured. According to C.I.B. around eleven-thirty Michael Miguel was shot in the back on Mahogany Street. His condition is described as not serious. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
