Push to Get Students Vaccinated on South Side

Francis Fonseca

With less than twenty percent of the population vaccinated and students coming out for their second jabs this week, will enough students be vaccinated in time for the safe return?  Data collected so far shows that north side Belize City schools have seen a higher turnout of students getting vaccinated compared to south side schools. Education Minister Francis Fonseca says that there will be a targeted plan for south side.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education

“I’ve been optimistic about the rollout across the country. We’ve had a good turnout of students. But you are right, we did discuss that issue yesterday in cabinet as well; that we have to have a special program in place for south side schools. So we’ve engaged south side leaders to go into those communities to work with our schools. So we have a plan in place, a targeted plan for our south side schools.”
