Elderly Woman Knocked Down and Killed in Corozal Town
An elderly woman lost her life in Corozal Town on Sunday morning as she rode her bicycle and was hit by a car. Sixty-eight-year-old Julia Gongora was rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after. According to the police, the driver of the vehicle will be charged.

“ In: On yesterday’s date, at about 6:50 a.m., police visited an area between 3rd Street and 7th Avenue in Corozal Town where they observed a female who was being placed inside an ambulance and she was taken to the Corozal Community Hospital where she passed away some time at about ten in the morning. What police know so far is that the deceased Mrs. Julia Hilda Maria Gongora, sixty-eight-years-old, was riding her bicycle from north to south direction when a vehicle being driven by one Mr. Kumer, forty-years-old, [who] was driving on 3rd Street south, heading towards College Road, when upon reaching that intersection, he knocked down Mrs. Gongora, causing her to fall to the divider where she had received injuries to her body. So far Mr. Kumer is in police custody and is awaiting charges to be leveled against him.”

Pankaj Kumar, a sales clerk of Altamira, Corozal, has been charged with one count of causing death by careless conduct.
