The Opposition is Against Mandatory Vaccination

Opposition Leader Shyne Barrow, on behalf of the United Democratic Party’s Parliamentary Caucus and Standard Bearers Group, has come out against mandatory COVID vaccinations.  This follows the announcement on Thursday by the Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat that beginning October first; vaccination cards will have to be presented for entrance into all public buildings.  The government later issued a release informing that consultations would also be held with the business community where that initiative is concerned.  In a written statement, Shyne Barrow reiterated what he terms the party’s “pro-choice” stance on COVID jabs, and encourages free testing for persons who choose not to get vaccinated and free ID cards for persons who have gotten their shots. Barrow says that the unions, as well as the churches, the business community, and non-governmental organizations, should also have a seat at the table where decision-making is concerned.
