Multiple Government and Business Sites Close Due to Covid

As the number of active COVID-19 cases continues to rise at a rapid rate, several businesses and government offices have had to shut their doors for sanitization purposes.  Over the last three weeks, at least five public offices have had to close their doors.  In the second week of August, the Belize Port Authority closed its doors for deep cleaning.  In the last week, the Ministry of Education’s headquarters, the Vital Statistics Unit, and the Lands and Survey Officer for the Belize District all underwent sanitization.  The Saint John Credit Union’s main office in Belize City was shuttered Thursday after a reported outbreak at that office and Digi Ladyville store was closed for business as well.  The Ministry of Health and Wellness told News Five they are no longer talking about outbreaks or clusters since there is now community spread.  The ministry says it is difficult to talk about one or two places when so many businesses in Belize have cases.  Viewers are reminded to continue all their own personal safety and sanitization practices.
