Police Investigating Alleged Rape within B.D.F.
So what happens next? Well, as we said, a formal report has been made to the Ladyville Police whose investigators are now looking into the incident. Depending on whether charges are brought against the alleged perpetrator, the policy sets out the steps that will be taken thereafter.
Lt. Col. Anthony Velasquez, Chief of Staff, B.D.F.
“According to our policy, there are two ways that we can deal with these incidents: internally or in the case of rape or any serious crime, then it is dealt with immediately by the police. We immediately inform the police and they take over any investigation that needs to occur. If the victim or the alleged victim feels that it is a case of sexual harassment or other incidents such like that, then we can deal with the matter internally. It is taken through our chain of command and there are disciplinary procedures as well as counselling and support procedures as well for the victim. Both victim and perpetrator are members of the force. After the police takes over the investigation that they have since yesterday, they will deal with the legal aspect of the investigation. Should anyone be charged as a result of this reporting, then that person or those persons that are charged by the police will then be placed on interdiction.”
