Tires Burned on Caesar Ridge Road

Early this morning, News Five received images of tires burning on the Caesar Ridge Road in Belize City. Questions immediately arose about whether this incident is related to the Christian Workers Union’s notice of intended strike action against the Port of Belize Limited. We asked the President of the Christian Workers Union, Mose Hyde, if the union was preparing to take organized action today. He responded by text saying, the union does not have anything official to say at present. C.E.O. at P.B.L. Andy Lane told News Five that while he heard of the fire near the port, there is no evidence that it is directly linked. C.E.O. Lane went on to say that he is pleased with the progress of the ongoing negotiations with C.W.U. on the Collective Bargaining Agreement. We will continue to follow.
