N.T.U.C.B. Requests Resumption of Commission of Inquiry

Andrew Marshalleck

In the time that has elapsed since mid-April, is there still public interest in proceeding with the inquiry?  While it has lost some momentum, chairman Marshalleck says the N.T.U.C.B. was the body requesting the resumption of the commission.

Andrew Marshalleck, Chairman, Commission of Inquiry

“Well momentum has been lost, there’s no doubt about that, but the reason why we discontinued was because one of the members in fact, one of the members who called for the commission had decided that they didn’t want to participate because of certain things that was happening between them and the government at the time.  They have since, in July, decided that they now want to proceed and a date was fixed in August to resume and hopefully complete the commission. Some of the witnesses we’ve called now is just to confirm what we’ve seen from the documentation to air the information so that everybody else also appreciates what it is publicly.  But from what we’ve seen, it’s fairly clear what the findings will or should be and I don’t want to preempt or speak on behalf of the entire commission because I do have two other members.  But what we’ve seen and the discussions held so far, it’s fairly clear what happened.”
