New U.S. Chargé D’affaires Coming to Belize Soon
It’s been months since the Biden Administration took office in the United States, but an ambassador has still not been named to Belize. In fact, Belize has not had a U.S. ambassador since President Obama demitted office back in 2016. Most recently Chargé d’affaires Keith Gilges has been standing in. In July, his mission ended and as we found out from Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Andie De Arment, a new chargé arrives soon.

“Our new chargé arrives very soon. I won’t tell you what date, but very, very soon and no one would be happier to see her arrive than I will. We are looking forward to strengthening that. Our previous chargé did a great job in his three years here, but we are obviously excited for someone with fresh eyes, fresh energy to come in. We also anticipate the nomination of ambassador; we will be eager to share that with the media when it happens. But in the interim, I know we are going to be in great hands with our new chargé Leyla Moses-Ones.”
