Belize District Has Several Vaccination Locations
In addition to the public health measures and the proper wearing of face masks, Doctor Diaz-Musa also discourages employers from having extended meetings, lunches and other gatherings with their staff so as to keep the number of new infections low. Since February, the number of COVID cases has risen from under fifty to around four hundred. Doctor Diaz-Musa encourages unvaccinated people in the Belize District to go get vaccinated to avoid suffering serious symptoms if they happen to catch COVID.
Dr. Melissa Diaz-Musa, Deputy Regional Health Manager, Central Health Region
“We are available Monday to Friday at Central Health Region or Nursing School. We are also at Swift Hall and all our public clinics are given vaccines at this time. We’re also trying to do pop-up vaccine outreach in different places. We have been at the – in front of the Civic Centre a few times. We’ve been out at the Battlefield Park as well. We’re setting up for the early part of next week by the 88 Shopping Centre on Central American Boulevard. So we want to give everybody the opportunity to access these vaccines. We had a big campaign at the market two Saturdays ago that was very successful as well. We’re asking for persons to come out to utilize what’s available. We have the vaccines available; it’s free of cost. We are accessible as best as possible. Don’t be deterred if you see people outside waiting. It’s very efficient; the time is not long but you’ve got to wait. We’re just asking the public to help us to get as many persons vaccinated.”
