“I blame the media for giving airtime to people who say things that I am sure they themselves do not believe or in other words, they give airtime to stupidity. I was made aware of the press conference after it had occurred and I saw the news and these persons were at this press conference and were not wearing masks which goes against the grain of the COVID-19 regulations. Let me say that the campaign that they are on is tantamount to giving medical advice and in order for one to be able to give medical advice, they must be a licensed medical practitioner in Belize. I have directed C.I.B. in Belize City since yesterday to launch an investigation which included to record statements from members of the president of the [Belize] Medical and Dental Associations and that statement has been recorded. We have also obtained the video footages of those press conferences outlining what their messages were and we are in the process of filing charges against those individuals.”
