Fifty-four Pounds of Weed on Police Street
Fifty-four pounds of compressed marijuana were removed from the streets of Lake Independence this morning during a joint operation conducted by various units of law enforcement. Shortly after seven a.m., elements from Special Branch, the K-9 Unit and the Special Patrol Unit descended on a location on Police Street where searches were conducted on an abandoned vehicle. Inside the white car were twenty-five tightly packed parcels of cannabis. The substantial quantity of drugs believed to be imported into the country from neighboring Mexico was confiscated and later weighed. Since no one was in the immediate vicinity of the discovery, the cache was sealed, labeled and deposited as found property. On Tuesday, a search was also conducted in the area of Police Street where a thirty-eight revolver was recovered by a team of officers.
