Vaccinated People Will Have Fewer Symptoms

Uldine Wright

Doctor Wright contends many who are sceptical about vaccines are having their fears fuelled by misinformation.

Dr. Uldine Wright, President, Belize Medical and Dental Association

“We know that there are people who fearful of anything that is new. So they might have five hundred persons who are sceptical about the vaccine from before and being fed misinformation that is just fuelling their fear and this can be detrimental to us, and this is why I am here to rebut certain claims. There are some claims, like one gentle man on the news who said he wants to see the virus isolated and shown to him for him to believe there is a virus. Now, I would not rebut that because I would not go that low. We are a scientific institution. We are based on science and we know that we cannot see a virus with a naked eye so certain things you would not go and rebut.   A next thing that a lot of them are saying, and they have a point to a certain extent, is that having the vaccine does not mean that you are immune to the virus and that is true. That is why we ask that once you have the vaccine you still wear your face mask and still do your social distancing. However, a person that is vaccinated, they have less symptoms. They have less viral load, which means they are shedding off the virus and the transmission will be less than a person who have not been vaccinated.”
