BMDA Says Vaccine Not Mandatory under S.I. 74
Doctor Wright also addressed claims that Statutory Instrument 74 makes vaccination mandatory. She says the medical experts within the Belize Medical and Dental Association agree this is a deceptive narrative.
Dr. Uldine Wright, President, Belize Medical and Dental Association
“And they come with the point of their rights, if they want to be vaccinated or not. Again, they have a right, and I think the Government is being very lenient with them, allowing persons who wish to not be vaccinated to go and do their PCR testing every two weeks. Because, in that time they can still transmit the virus. But they are being exempted from that aspect of saying you have to get the vaccine. And they are giving you an alternative. But, I am thinking, my children cannot get the vaccine because they do not have the age for the vaccine. However, their teacher does. And so, if their teacher gets the vaccine, I know that she will have a less chance of shedding the virus, in comparison to persons who don’t have the vaccine.”
Paul Lopez
“We hear them speaking of a mandatory vaccine, which when you look at S.I. 74, it does not say that vaccine is mandatory. Do you feel like this is being deceptive and lying to the public to get a buy in for this agenda?”
Dr. Uldine Wright
“Yes, it surely is. But again, our people can read, most of them. They can read and see it is not mandatory. You take it, you should take it. If you don’t want to take it you do the test, simple. And, this to protect our patients or children at schools, our officers at prison and those doing check points and so forth. This is to protect the general public.”
