Another Shooting in San Pedro; This Time in the DFC Area

A man from San Pedro was airlifted to Belize City for medical treatment following a shooting on Monday night. Reports are that just before ten p.m. shots rang out in the DFC area of San Pedro Town. Joshua Gongora was shot twice while on his way home. The twenty-five-year-old was rushed to the Doctor Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic and within an hour, he was transported via an air ambulance to Belize City where he reportedly remains in a stable condition. According to residents in the area, as many as ten shots were heard. One witness, who asked not to be named, said he saw around four persons running away from the scene, while another person was observed helping Gongora. Official information is that Gongora was approached by three male persons, one of whom took out a gun and fired several shots at him, causing the injuries. The investigation continues, but so far no one has been charged for this latest shooting on La Isla Bonita. This is the second shooting in two days. On Saturday, Luis Tun was shot in the San Mateo area; he too survived the attack.
