Faber Holds Onto Leadership; Attacks Continue

And now that he has reaffirmed his party leader seat, you heard Faber say that he is working on taking back the leader of the opposition role in the House. But it’s left to be seen if and when that will happen because although he has retained the party leadership, Faber continues to face attacks from inside his party. And this morning that’s what OYE hosts asked him – why and where are these attacks coming from? He says that there’s primarily one man to blame.

Patrick Faber

Patrick Faber, Party Leader, U.D.P.

“The primary attempt comes from John Saldivar, who of course is sour grapes and is in a predicament where he needs to self preserve. When I referred just now to the constitution of the party stopping certain individuals from running, he is in that predicament. The constitution says that once you have lost three elections, it didn’t say consecutive elections, and then you have to request special permission from the national party council to run again.”

Marleni Cuellar, Host, Open Your Eyes

“So that is his issue that you won’t let him run again?”

Patrick Faber

“Well, that is one of his issues but it is also that he has ambitions to lead which he can’t do because the constitution is very clear on who can be leader of the party; while he will say I don’t want to lead it is clear that that is an agenda. And then there is the point that ok so I didn’t make it and you will not make it either and then there are actions to follow that up; and then there are those people who are hungry for power and they combine with all of these factors that I mentioned and they agitate.”
