Drug Bust in the North

Police were able to intercept one hundred and seven pounds of compressed cannabis during a late night operation in Corozal on Thursday. A team of officers were on special operation in an area known as “Smugglers Den” in Consejo Village when just before midnight, they spotted two Hispanic men on bicycles coming from the direction of the lagoon; they were each carrying a large black bundle.  Upon seeing the police, both individuals ran into nearby bushes and escaped, leaving their bicycles and the bundles behind. Inside, police discovered sixty parcels each of suspected cannabis. The suspected drugs were transported to the police station where it was processed, weighed and amounted to one hundred and seven pounds. The drugs were labelled, sealed, and deposited as found property.
