Health Care Partners Robbed
There is no evidence to suggest that they are related, but over the weekend, two armed robbers also targeted the Belize Health Care Partners, taking cell phones and an undisclosed amount of cash. Police say it was a crime of opportunity, not necessarily a reflection of hard economic times. So far, they have not made any connection between this incident and the robbery at the Biltmore.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department
“So far, the security on duty at the Health Care Partners relayed that he was relieved of his cellphone and his wallet by two armed men that arrived at the hospital in a red in color SUV. The persons then proceeded to rob the on-duty cashier of an undisclosed amount of cash. And then, they walked out into the vehicle and made good their escape. Crimes happen when opportunities arise. For us to categorize it and say times are contributing towards it, no matter what the times are. If it is good or bad, criminals are always out there generating their own crimes. So, for us to marginalize this and say that it contributes to the time, it is unfair to answer the question.”
When contacted by News Five, Belize Health Care partners declined to comment on the robbery.
