Police Corporal Found Dead at Caribbean Shores Station
The Belize Police Department is mourning the loss of one their own over the weekend. Corporal Jose Blanco reported for duty to the Caribbean Shores Police Station just after midnight on Sunday morning, but was found dead a few hours later. It is known that he had diabetes, high cholesterol and hypertension, but there was speculation that his passing might be related to a COVID-19 vaccination. ASP Yearwood spoke about what happened at the police station and why he feels it is premature to comment on the cause of death.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department
“First of all, I’d like to express our sympathies to the family of Jose Blanco, also known as Jose Correa, Corporal of Police. It is unfortunate that he was found motionless by his colleague at the station where he was working. According to his colleague, he went into the bathroom sometime around forty thirty a.m. When she realized that he had been in them for a while and had not respond to her call, she got assistance from their main station at precinct four, where the officers had to pry open the door and found him motionless. He was transported to the K.H.M.H. where he was pronounced dead at around seven thirty a.m. there about. To be very honest, I do not know that they give you a vaccine on Sunday or Saturday. So, that will just be a rumor because he reported for duty Sunday morning, which would be a little after midnight. So, for us, I do not want to class it with the vaccine. It would not be fair. We will have to wait for the result of the post-mortem.”
