S.P.U. Raid Turns Up Firearms and Marijuana
The Special Patrol Unit conducted an operation in the Saint Martin de Porres neighborhood on Monday night which yielded a quantity of marijuana, as well as a cache of weapons. Seven pounds of cannabis, packed tightly in three parcels, were retrieved from a property on Carnation Street. The raid was led by Assistant Superintendent Aaron Gamboa and took place shortly before eight p.m. It also turned up three firearms, including a pair of revolvers and a point twenty-two pistol. In Corozal Town on Monday, S.P.U. personnel were also tipped off about a stash house. Following up on that lead, they visited an abandoned cement structure where a search of the property led to the discovery of a grey plastic bag under a pile of rocks. Inside the bag was a black and silver Jericho brand pistol. A magazine found inside the weapon contained six, nine millimeter rounds. The firearm was turned over to Corozal Police.
