U.D.P.’s Tracy Panton Distances Herself from Comments about Leader Patrick Faber

On Tuesday evening, Mesopotamia area representative Shyne Barrow continued to take shots at Patrick Faber’s leadership of the United Democratic Party.  As we reported, Barrow claimed that Faber doesn’t enjoy the confidence of the majority of opposition members of the House.  In a social media post Tuesday evening, he went on to say that “Tracy Panton enjoys the confidence of the majority of Opposition Members of the House.” But just hours later, Panton took to her personal Facebook page to distance herself from Barrow’s statements.  She wrote, “I do not associate myself with the statement of the Honorable Shyne Barrow, placed on social media, regarding the lack of confidence in the U.D.P. Party Leader, the Honorable Patrick Faber, as the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives.” Panton ended her statement saying that it’s time for the U.D.P. to unite, heal and rebuild.  While Barrow says an emergency meeting to the U.D.P. National Party Council will be held before they proceed to write the Governor General, there has been no confirmation of this.  This afternoon, Deputy Chairman of the U.D.P. Alberto August told News Five they would be issuing a release, but at news time that had yet to be sent.  Tracy Panton told News Five via WhatsApp to refer to her statement on her Facebook and that she wouldn’t be making any further comment.
