352 Schools Approved for Reopening

Francis Fonseca

The reopening of schools across the country, albeit at the end of the academic year, has been met with enthusiasm from teachers and students alike.  Since government announced that in-person learning would resume in April and May, a lot of interest has been generated by stakeholders in the education sector.  Earlier today, Minister of Education Francis Fonseca spoke on the resumption of classes, as well as the number of schools that have signed up to reopen.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education

“All of our decisions in education have to be based on the advice of our public health officials as it relates to the reopening of schools.  We will not do anything, we will not do anything that will place at risk the health of our students, our teachers, our administrators, our families.  So our advice, our actions, our decisions have always and continue to be based on the advice of our public health experts.  So that has allowed us to reopen schools for face-to-face learning in a phased manner, a phased approach.  We have green-lighted, the Ministry of Education has green-lighted three hundred and fifty-two schools to reopen for face-to-face instructions and we were very, very pleased with the response that we got from our schools, the education community.”
